Rams LT Jake Long vs. Falcons RDE Osi Umenyiora: Long was taken two picks before Matt Ryan in 2008, No. 1 overall. He signed with the Rams as a free agent in a key offseason move. Long, a Michigan product, helped keep quarterback Sam Bradford clean against Arizona. He's healthy and playing strong. Umenyiora didn't register a sack in the opener, but buzzed around Drew Brees most of the day. "He's an outstanding offensive tackle, one of the best in the league," Umenyiora said of Long. "He's going to present a challenge."
Rams TE Jared Cook vs. Falcons FS Thomas DeCoud: Cook, a former Titan from North Gwinnett High, caught seven passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns in his debut with the Rams. He's the big and fast type of tight end that has posed a problem for the Falcons under defensive coordinator Mike Nolan. DeCoud, who went to the Pro Bowl as an alternate last season, helped the defense do a credible job against New Orleans' Jimmy Graham in the season opener. DeCoud, linebackers and Kroy Biermann were used to harass Graham.
Rams LDE Chris Long vs. Falcons RT Lamar Holmes: Long led the Rams with 11.5 sacks last season. He batted down a pass last week against Arizona, but didn't have a sack. Long is extremely active along the line of scrimmage. The Falcons have committed to Holmes, who will make his second start. They will provide him help in the form for chip blocks from tight end and running backs.
