Patriots CB Aqib Talib vs. Falcons WR Julio Jones: Talib has three interceptions and is an excellent man-to-man cornerback. He likely will have some duty on Jones as the Patriots try to take away the Falcons' most dangerous threat. Jones, who has 27 catches, has had to carry the offense for long stretches this season. "He can turn (short passes) into long gains just as easily as he can turn a go pattern into a long gain," New England coach Bill Belichick said. "He's really so hard to jam just because he's so physical and strong."
Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski vs. Falcons LB Joplo Bartu and FS Thomas DeCoud: Gronkowski, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, could make his season debut after sitting out because of injury. Gronkowski had 55 receptions for 790 yards and 11 touchdowns in only 11 games in 2012. In 2011 he totaled 90 catches for 1,327 yards and 17 touchdowns. The Falcons have played tight ends Jimmy Graham, Jared Cook and Chris Clay much tighter this season.
Patriots DT Vince Wilfork vs. Falcons LG Justin Blalock: Wilfork, a five-time Pro Bowler, is off to another strong start. Wilford, despite being in his 10th season in the NFL, can still be a disruptive force. "He's a great athlete," Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan said. "He's an unbelievable athlete." Blalock and the offensive line is coming off a strong run-blocking game, but still must give Ryan more time in pass protection to take some vertical shots. If Wilfork is not controlled, he could wreck the entire operation.
