If you are one of the 60,000 people who will participate in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, here are some training tips provided by Atlanta Track Club and Reebok Training spokeswoman, Carrie Tollefson.

Here are guidelines to consider when we are two weeks away from the Fourth of July race, which will be Friday.

Go on your longest run

Two weeks out is the best time to practice the full length of the course. After practicing the course, you will have full confidence that you can do it on race day. You want to make sure you allow enough time to recover so you have fresh legs on race day.

Prepare mentally

The course run is a great idea, get to know the race. Run the uphill and downhill sections.

Run at a hotter time of the day than the race time. Race day will feel better, and you know how your body handles the heat and humidity.

Visualize the race, the parking and getting to the start to the actual race.

Last 10 days

Take ten minutes each day to be a “mindful runner.” Visualize the course, think about your goal, race-day logistics and get excited.
