Serena Williams uses her ‘superhero’ sense to stop alleged cellphone thief

The fierce determination and athletic grace that have served Serena Williams so well on the tennis court came in handy during a recent incident in which her cellphone was swiped while she was dining out at a Chinese restaurant.

On her Facebook page, Williams details the incident, in which she says she got a bad vibe about a man lingering near her table at the busy restaurant. Suddenly, the man grabbed her phone and hurried out of the restaurant.

Williams wasn’t about to play the victim.

She shouted, “That dude took my phone!”

Then she took off in hot pursuit of the alleged thief.

Williams said she caught up with the man “in a flash.”

In a no-nonsense voice, Williams asked the man if he “accidentally” picked up the wrong phone. The man, flustered at this point, claimed to have grabbed the wrong phone.

Williams returned to the restaurant with her phone and received a standing ovation.

She shared the incident on Facebook to encourage other women to not be victims.
