Serena Williams thinks she’s being targeted when it comes to random drug testing.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion posted on Twitter Tuesday evening questioning why she seems to be “randomly” drug tested more frequently than any other professional tennis player.
Williams tweets follow an article posted by Deadspin in June in which the USADA database proved Williams was tested five total times in 2018— two more times than any other top American female tennis players and more than any of the top five American male players.
“And it’s that time of the day to get ‘randomly”’drug tested and only test Serena,” Williams said Tuesday on Twitter. “Out of all the players it’s been proven I’m the one getting tested the most. Discrimination? I think so. At least I’ll be keeping the sport clean #StayPositive.”
In a second tweet, Williams added to her thoughts on the drug tests stating she knows random drug tests are part of the sport and she’s willing to contribute to keep tennis clean.
“But I’m ready to do whatever it takes to have a clean sport so bring it on. I’m excited,” Williams said.
