A headband secured two small American flags, but the most interesting thing on Randy Major’s head might have been the GoPro strapped to his forehead.
For the second year in a row, Major recorded The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, which he has run for 29 consecutive years, with a first-person perspective.
“I ran with the GoPro because I thought maybe I can get some interesting characters,” said Major, who lives in Roswell. “Last year, I recorded a fireman, which was very inspiring.”
Last year, the camera was on Major’s chest as he recorded the fireman for the entire race. He put parts of the video up on his YouTube channel.
This year, Major tried to capture a broader feel for the Peachtree. He filmed mile markers, onlookers and participants.
When Major wanted to captured something special, he slowed down to a walk and swiveled his head to capture the footage.
Major plans to run the Peachtree next year.
