The New England Patriots will release wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell Monday, according to NFL Network National Insider Ian Rapoport.

The former Bulldog was drafted by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. During his rookie season, Mitchell had 32 receptions for 401 yards.

During Super Bowl LI, Mitchell had six receptions for 70 yards, helping the Patriots with the come-from-behind win over the Atlanta Falcons.

The Georgia native missed the entire 2017 season with a knee injury. His release comes after the Patriots added former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Eric Decker to the team.

While at the University of Georgia, Mitchell compiled 2,350 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.
