Nearly 30,000 tickets have been sold for the Gold Cup semifinals at the Georgia Dome.

This total despite purchasers not yet knowing which of the 12 teams participating in the tournament will advance. The semifinals will be July 22.

The Gold Cup features 12 national teams from countries in North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Atlanta hosted two quarterfinal games in the event in 2013.

The teams have been divided into three groups. The U.S., which hasn’t played in metro Atlanta since 1977, headlines Group A. Costa Rica headlines Group B and Mexico, which has played in Atlanta several times the past six years, headlines Group C.

The winner of Group A will play either the third-place team from Group B or C in the quarterfinals. The second-place team from Group A will place the winner of Group B in the other quarterfinal.

The winner of Group C will play either the third-place team from Group B or C in the third quarterfinal. The final quarterfinal will feature the second-place team from Group C vs. the second-place team from Group B.

The winners of the quarterfinals will advance to the Georgia Dome. The championship match will be played July 26.
