The Dream selected West Virginia’s Bria Holmes with the 11th pick in the first round of the WNBA draft on Thursday.

Holmes is a three-time all-Big 12 first team selection and two-time AP All-America honorable mention selection. She finished her career scoring 2,001 points, with 483 rebounds, 309 assists and 171 steals.

The Dream added Rachel Hollivay of Rutgers with the first pick in the second round. The 6-foot-4 center averaged 7.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game last season. She was named to the all-Big Ten honorable mention squad. She averaged 6.5 points, 4.93 rebounds and 2.55 blocks per game in her college career.

With the fourth pick in the second round, the Dream selected Texas A&M’s Courtney Walker. The 5-foot-8 guard averaged 18.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season. She is a three-time AP All-American. She averaged 14.6 points in her career.

With their final selection, the fourth in the third round, the Dream selected Baylor’s Niya Johnson. The 5-8 guard averaged 6.9 points and 8.7 assists per game last season.

The Dream went 15-19 last season, missing the playoffs for the first time in six years and the second in the team’s eight-year history.

The Dream returns many players from last year’s squad, including Angel McCoughtry, Tiffany Hayes, Sancho Lyttle, Shoni Schimmel and Matee Ajavon.

The team hired a new president, Theresa Wenzel, in the offseason.

The Dream had the No. 4 pick in the draft, but traded the rights to the pick to Connecticut for center Elizabeth Williams, last year’s fourth pick.
