Pittsburgh guard Damon Wilson will transfer to Georgia State this summer, coach Ron Hunter announced on Wednesday.

After finishing his high school career at New York’s Our Savior New American and two seasons at Pitt, Wilson will redshirt the 2017-2018 season before playing for the Panthers.

Wilson, originally from Atlanta, played in 57 games in two seasons at Pitt.

“We are excited to finish a great recruiting cycle by adding Damon to our team,” Hunter said in a statement released by the University. “We were glad that Damon decided to return to Atlanta to finish his collegiate career. He has a high basketball IQ and works hard in the classroom. He is going to be a great addition to our program.”

With a 4.0 GPA in his freshman year at Pitt, Wilson earned All-ACC Academic Team honors.

Out of high school, Wilson was ranked No. 73 on ESPN 100 and was the top ranked point guard in New York and Georgia, according to Georgia State.

As a freshman at Pitt, Wilson shot .345 from the field and .333 beyond the arc in the 2015-2016 season. Wilson only played 183 minutes in his sophomore season with the Panthers.

Former Purdue forward Basil Smotherman will also transfer to Georgia State after he and Purdue mutually agreed to part ways in January. Smotherman has one remaining year of eligibility.
