The man of the match for Atlanta United in its 2-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls on Sunday at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium:

Yamil Asad

Midfielder

Why: He scored the first goal in Atlanta United's history. It came on a cross from Tyrone Mears from the right side to Asad, who was making a run to the left post. Mears said he saw Gressel, but once he hit the cross he knew that Asad would be at that spot.

“It was a joy to score,” he said. “I’m very excited to be a part of the history of the club. I’m unhappy that we lost. We have a lot of things to work on.”
