NBA champion Kevin Durant says he will not visit President Donald Trump at the White House if the Golden State Warriors are invited, according to a story on ESPN.
"Nah, I won't do that," Durant, the 2017 NBA Finals MVP, told ESPN Thursday. "I don't respect who's in office right now."
The White House has not officially extended an invitation to the Warriors, who defeated Cleveland 4-1 to win the NBA championship in June. Here are some other comments about Donald Trump from Durant, speaking during Kevin Durant Day in his hometown of Seat Pleasant, Md. just outside of Washington D.C.
On why he would skip the White House visit: “I don't agree with what he agrees with, so my voice is going to be heard by not doing that.”
On whether the Golden State organization has adopted his stance: “That's just me personally, but if I know my guys well enough, they'll all agree with me."
On whether Trump has escalated racial tension in the country: “He's definitely driving it .... I feel ever since he's got into office, or since he ran for the presidency, our country has been so divided, and it's not a coincidence.”
