JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Markeith Cummings matched his season-high with 27 points on Monday evening, as the Kennesaw State Owls brought it down to the wire once again before a last-second three-point attempt went amiss, sending them to a, 73-71, defeat at the Jacksonville Dolphins.
After a Cummings free throw made it, 73-71, the Owls (3-26, 0-16 Atlantic Sun Conference) would get a stop on the defensive end with 7.4 seconds to go, giving them a chance to win or tie it. Romain Henry received the ball from the left corner with about two seconds to go but his three point try would sail over the rim, ending the game with a win for Jacksonville (8-20, 6-11) .
Georgia State Leads Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate, Stephenson and Gruca Top Two
Hilton Head, S.C. – Led by the strong play of Damon Stephenson and Tyler Gruca, Georgia State opened a seven-stroke lead over the field in the seventh annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Monday afternoon. With 18 holes to play Tuesday, Stephenson leads by one-stroke lead over Gruca.
Georgia State was the lone school in the 17-team field to break 300 in both rounds on Monday, opening with a 297 before shooting 294 in the afternoon to stand at 15-over through 36 holes. The Panthers lead is seven over Davidson and 10-strokes over Furman.
