Michelle Carter made history Friday as the first American to win a gold medal in the women’s shot put at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
But, winning is in her blood.
Michelle is actually following in the footsteps of her father Michael Carter, who took home the silver medal in the shot put more than 30 years ago at the 1984 games in Los Angeles.
"Of course, I can't wait until I get the medal and I can walk around the house and say 'Daddy, I got you,'" Carter said, according to NPR.
Michelle's father, who played his entire career with the San Francisco 49ers, was reportedly also the first person to ever win an Olympic medal and a Super Bowl within the same 12 months.
