Atlanta United manager Gerardo Martino said “I don’t know” after Saturday’s 5-0 win against LAFC when asked if the team had interest in signing Cameroonian midfielder Stephane Mbia.

Mbia was in Atlanta and did walk across the Mercedes-Benz Stadium turf with Atlanta United vice president technical director Carlos Bocanegra and director of soccer operations Paul McDonough after the LAFC game.

Mbia, 31, could be signed as a replacement for Carlos Carmona as a defensive midfielder. Mbia has spent most of his career in France with Rennes and Marseille, but has also played in England for Queens Park Rangers, in Spain for Sevilla, in Turkey with Trabzonspor and in China Hebei China Fortune.

He has 67 caps with Cameroon’s national team.
