Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan won the Professional Athlete of the Year award at the Atlanta Sports Awards ceremony Thursday night.

Former Hawks forward Paul Millsap and Falcons receiver Julio Jones were the other two nominees.

Warrick Dunn presented the award.

Ryan won the NFL MVP and led Atlanta to its first Super Bowl berth since 1999.

“It means a lot to me,” Ryan said through a recorded video. “I’m proud to be a part of this city and community. I wish I could be there tonight, but it’s a great honor for me.”
