Former Thrashers franchise player Ilya Kovalchuk signed a long-term deal to stay with New Jersey on Monday. Terms were not disclosed but the deal is reportedly worth more than $100 million over 17 years.

After 18 days on the free-agent market, Kovalchuk agreed to remain with the Devils, who acquired him in the February trade that sent Johnny Oduya, Niclas Bergfors, prospect Patrice Cormier and a first-round pick to the Thrashers.

"Ilya is excited to be continuing his career with New Jersey and knows first-hand the team's dedication and commitment to winning." Kovalchuk's agent, Jay Grossman, posted on his agency's Website.

Kovalchuk turned down a seven-year, $70 million deal and a 12-year, $101 million deal to re-sign with the Thrashers before the trade. The team announced the signing via Twitter.
