Georgia’s state basketball champions should sound familiar. Six of the 10 won state titles last year, and only Fayette County’s girls won for the first time in history.
In Class AAAAA, Norcross’ boys won their first title under coach Jesse McMillan but fourth in six seasons. Norcross’ girls repeated as champion under Angie Hembree, who has five titles overall as a head coach, three at Collins Hill.
Norcross’ sweep of the boys and girls title has happened 12 times in state history, but this was the first time in the highest classification since Murphy of Atlanta did it in 1958.
Miller Grove, Class AAAA champions, became the 10th boys program in history to win three straight titles.
