The Collins Hill girls swept the team and individual championships at Monday's rain-soaked Class AAAAA state tournament at Reynolds Plantation.

Junior Lauren Court was the medalist with a 1-over-par 73, while senior teammate Jackie Rajek finished at 85. Collins Hill's team score of 14-over 158 edged Tift County (161) for the team championship, the first golf title in the Gwinnett school's history.

"Obviously, we're thrilled and excited," Collins Hill coach Brett Savage said. "From the beginning of the year, we knew this team had the chance to be something special."

Court blew away the rest of the field, finishing five strokes ahead of her nearest competitor. She had four birdies, three bogeys and one double-bogey, along with a slew of pars.

"She gets into tough spots and doesn't panic," Savage said. "The conditions were really rough, with the rain pouring down hard. Lauren managed to stay out of trouble, which many of the other girls ran into throughout the day."

Class AAAA: North Clayton's Mariah Stackhouse continued to show why she's considered one of the state's best golfers by winning state medalist honors for the second consecutive year. Her 71 on the Indian Mounds Course at Jekyll Island was one shot better than the 72 by Glynn Academy's Katy Harris.

Harris' low round helped lead Glynn to the team title for the first time since 2007, when the school won four straight state titles, the first three coming at the AAAAA level. Glynn's 154 team total was 14 better than second-place Thomas County Central. Whitewater finished third at 171.

It was Stackhouse, though, who grabbed the individual spotlight with another winning performance at state. Her team didn't qualify for the state tournament, but she made the most of her trip, though she felt she faltered on the back nine.

"I had my goals coming into this tournament, to shoot really low," said Stackhouse, the 2009 Georgia State Golf Association girls player of the year. "Earlier this week, I had been shooting from the red tees and shooting really good scores. When I got to the back nine, my putter went cold on me. You can't play your best golf every time."
