Defending Class 4A football champion Marist (7-1) is No. 1 in the rankings again two weeks before the playoffs.

Room at the top came when previous No. 1 Jefferson, the 2020 runner-up, lost to North Oconee 11-6 last week.

North Oconee (7-3) moved to No. 5 and Jefferson (8-1) fell to No. 6. Jefferson had won 15 consecutive region games and 16 consecutive home games.

Marist’s lone defeat came against Woodward Academy (9-0), the No. 3 team in Class 5A.

Also contending in 4A is Benedictine (8-2), which has won eight consecutive games starting 0-2 against out-of-state teams.

In Class 7A, No. 1 Collins Hill (10-0) completed its regular season with a 40-10 victory over previous No. 2 Mill Creek (8-1), which fell to No. 4.

Georgia Military, a Class A Public team, also finished its regular season 10-0 and entered the rankings for the first time since 2001.

The regular season has one week remaining. The playoffs begin Nov. 11-12.
