The good news is the Hawks scored 115 points Thursday night. The bad news is they still lost by 31.

The Hawks fell to the Kings 146-115 at State Farm Arena.

Jeremy Lin scored 23 in 23 minutes for the Hawks, who had five other players in double figures.

But it wasn’t nearly enough against Sacramento, which was led by De’Aaron Fox’s 31 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds.

Rookie Trae Young scored 14 for the Hawks and had 10 assists along with eight turnovers. Young was 6-of-13 from the field but only attempted one 3-pointer (a miss).

Another Hawks rookie, guard Kevin Huerter, departed after he sprained his right ankle with 4:27 remaining in the first period. He got hurt when the Kings’ Buddy Hield crashed into the back of his leg while diving for a loose ball.

Hawks forward Alex Poythress had nine points and eight rebounds after missing two games with a left knee sprain and bone bruise.

After leading by only five points at halftime, the Kings outscored the Hawks 46-23 in the third. Fox had 21 points in the period.

Sacramento maintained its up-tempo pressure in the final period. Fox, Hield and other starters didn't leave for good until the final few minutes. The Kings scored at least 31 points in every quarter.

The 2-6 Hawks have lost four in a row and host the Heat at 7:30 Saturday night.
