Early on a humid afternoon, Georgia Tech gave Tulane and its fans opportunity to celebrate the opening of their new stadium. As the day wore on, however, the Yellow Jackets buttoned up ball-security issues, devoured the Green Wave defense on the perimeter and delivered a string of big plays to assert their superiority.

Saturday, Tech claimed the first game ever played at Tulane’s Yulman Stadium by a 38-21 score. In the first meeting between the former SEC rivals since 1982, Tech (2-0) overcame three early seven-point deficits by scoring the final 24 points of the game.

After giving up 21 points in Tulane’s first five possessions, the Tech defense kept the Green Wave off the scoreboard over the final 39 minutes and the final six posessions. The Jackets thwarted three possessions with interceptions.

Offensively, on the strength of a series of tosses to the A-backs, Tech easily cleared 300 rushing yards. A-back Tony Zenon, in a return to his hometown, ran eight times for 62 yards with two touchdowns.

Tulane fell to 0-2.
