Ex-Georgia Tech defensive end Jordan Woods will transfer to the University of South Florida. Woods, who decided to leave the team in April, will join a Bulls program coming off a No. 19 finish in the Associated Press poll and a 46-39 Birmingham Bowl win over South Carolina to cap off the season.

Woods, who was recruited as a four-star prospect out of North Marion High School in Citra, Fla., sat out the 2016 season after tearing a labrum in his shoulder. Defensive line coach Mike Pelton said Woods was at “square one” in his development as spring practice began this year.

Woods said playing time was not a factor in his decision to transfer. He will have to sit out the 2017 season but can return in 2018 with three years of eligibility remaining.
