Georgia football greats George Poschner and Hines Ward are among the new inductees to the UGA Athletic Association Georgia’s Circle of Honor. They will be recognized at halftime of Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt.

The No. 2-ranked Bulldogs (5-0) play the Commodores (3-2) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday (SEC Network; News 95.5 and AM-750 WSB).

Poschner and Ward will be joined by 14-time NCAA champion swimmer Mary DeScenza, track star Hyleas Fountain and national championship winning baseball coach Steve Webber.  All five former Bulldogs earned the recognition because of the honor they brought to the University of Georgia on and off the field while earning their degrees.

Poschner played with Bulldogs Heisman winner Frank Sinkwich from 1939 to ’42. He was elected to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1982. Ward, a two-time Super Bowl winner in 14 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, played receiver and tailback at Georgia from 1994-97.

The official ceremony for the Circle of Honor will be Feb. 8, 2019.
