Auburn wide receiver Kyle Davis was dismissed from the team Tuesday for a violation of team rules, according to coach Gus Malzahn.

"Anytime as a head coach a player has to be dismissed, that hurts," Malzahn said, according to 247 Sports. "But every situation is different. We've got a lot of great kids. Anytime that happens, it's just another opportunity for someone else. So that's the way I look at it."

Davis, a former Archer High School receiver, totaled seven catches for 210 yards this season with the Tigers, but missed two games.

247 Sports reported Davis missed all of spring practice due to personal reasons.

Davis, from Lawrenceville, Ga., is the third player to leave Auburn this season after backup quarterback Sean White was dismissed after being arrested for public intoxication and defensive lineman Bryon Cowart chose to leave the team in mid-September because of lack of playing time and personal reasons.
