N. C. State defensive tackle Justin Jones, who played at South Cobb High, had a strong week of practice during Senior Bowl week.
The 311-pounder is ready for the 69th annual college exhibition football game, which is set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Jones played in 34 games for the Wolfpack and made 108 tackles, 22.5 tackles for losses and had 8.5 sacks.
Here’s what Jones had to say to The Atlanta Journal Constitution on Tuesday:
Q: What are you hoping to show NFL scouts here at the Senior Bowl?
A: "I just want to show them that I can be a good player and be a good teammate. I'm trying to improve my game and learn from the coaches. I'm trying to learn what they are trying to teach it and trying to learn what the NFL is going to be like in the future."
Q: How did you end up at N.C. State?
A: "I knew Bradley Chubb since I was in the sixth grade. We went to the same school and so when we went to college it made since to go to the same school. That's how we ended up at State."
Q: Did you play little league ball in Cobb County?
A: "My first time playing was really in the eighth grade. We had a middle school team at South Cobb."
Q: What has the interviewing process been like for you?
A: "There are a lot of scouts here and a lot of them want to talk. I'm just trying to put my best foot forward. Trying to show who I really am. I'm just being honest and trying to put my best foot forward."
Q: How did the weigh-in go for you?
A: "I knew I was going to weigh-in over 300, so I guess for the most part I thought I was a little taller, but I guess not."
Q: How competitive is Cobb County football? You're here and Bradley Chubb is going to go high in the draft.
A: "It's a great place to go and get you some recruits. We have great talent in Cobb County. McEachern and Hillgrove. Great talent."
Q: How many teams have you talked to so far?
A: "It's hard to keep count, but I've talked to a good bit of them."
