Atlanta Falcons

Who’s inactive for the Falcons today?

Nov 8, 2015

There were no major surprises with the Falcons’ inactives for today’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, which starts at 4 p.m. at Levi Stadium.

Cornerback Robert Alford (groin), safety William Moore (groin), linebacker Justin Durant (calf), center James Stone, tackle Bryce Harris, wide receiver Leonard Hankerson (hamstring) and defensive end Mallicaih Goodman were declared inactive.

Alford, Durant, Moore and Hankerson were declared out on Friday.

The Falcons (6-2) promoted Akeem King from the practice squad on Friday and he’ll be the backup cornerback. The team released former third-round pick Dezmen Southward to make room for King, who was a seventh-round pick in 2015.

Southward was originally drafted to replace Thomas DeCoud at free safety. He was switched to cornerback when Dan Quinn was hired and implemented his scheme.

The Falcons expect Southward, a former third-round pick, to be picked up by another team to play safety.
