MATT RYAN, quarterback
On the state of the team
“I think anytime that you don’t get the job done, you have to evaluate what we need to do better. From a player’s perspective I think it comes down to making the plays when we had the chance. I think we’ve got a confidence group in our locker room and guys that believe that we’re going to be successful. We haven’t been there the last three or four weeks, but it’s a long haul. The one thing that I’ve learned in my career is that you have to be steady throughout the 16-game regular season because there are lot of ups. There are a lot of downs. If you get caught kind of on either end, it takes away from how you prepare. What you need to do in order to get yourself ready to play. That will be my message when I talk with guys and that’s what I believe in. I think we need to stay even keel, continue to prepare as best as we can and hopefully play better next week.
On Roddy White
“Roddy has been around me for a long time. Obviously, when you don’t make enough plays to win, I think everybody is frustrated and disappointed. Part of being a professional and a part of being a winning team is being able to move on from disappointment and success. I really believe in trying to keep that even keeled throughout the year. Stay single-minded in my approach in terms of getting ready to play. I feel like that’s the best process moving forward.”
On the team being frustrated
“That’s what happens when you’re not winning. That’s what happens when you’re watching film by yourself. When you’re going through it, we all think we can make these plays all the time. That’s kind of the competitor’s mindset. When you don’t, you get frustrated. You get pissed. That’s part of the deal. But you’ve got to be able to move past that. I think that’s natural in sports. We’ll watch the film tomorrow. We’ll learn from it and I’m sure there will be some moments where everybody is pissed off. You move forward. You try and learn from them and try to be better the next time that we have those opportunities come up.”
JALEN COLLINS, cornerback
On the holding penalty
“I felt like I had pretty good coverage but the refs called what they call. You can’t really do much about that. I’ve just got to come back and play it a little bit.”
On the defense after halftime
“They really didn’t change up anything. They did what they were doing the pretty much the whole game. We’ve just got to make some of those plays.”
PATRICK DIMARCO, fullback
On what’s been going on the last five games
“We just need to execute better and finish better. Just little things here and there. As a ball team we are about as tight as it gets. We’ve just got to keep on pushing.”
On the state of the team
“We know who we are. We know the type of team we want to be. We need to go out there and finish better. Just all around we need to play good ball all three phases. We haven’t quite yet.
“We’ve got to keep pushing.”
On the lack of a running game
“They are a good defense. They stacked the box against us and gave us some trouble. But there were holes out there. We hit them a few times early. Wish we would have hit them a few more times.”
TEVIN COLEMAN, running back
On the Colts focusing on stopping the run
“They definitely used a lot of men in the box and they played the run really well and we couldn’t get any gaps or any holes to run through.”
On if the Colts limited the outside runs like the 49ers did
“It was similar. They were stretching it so we couldn’t get outside and then they spilled inside to make the tackle. They pretty much played the outside zone pretty well.”
JULIO JONES, wide receiver
On what was learned from today’s loss:
“I think we just have to keep pushing because you learn from losses. We were 5-0, we were on our high horses, and everyone was praising us and whatever, but now, you see everyone’s true colors. People will talk poorly about you, but we have to stay tight here. We have to continue to keep working because we are still in it. We need to get on a roll.”
On the team’s effort
“We just have to leave no doubt. We have to go out there every play no matter who we are playing and give maximum effort. If you cannot do it, then get out. I just feel like we have to get back to that, but we are playing hard.”
On Matt Ryan’s recent form
“No, it happens. You are going to have your ups and your downs. It is all about how you deal with it. If you are down, you are going to stay down, or you are going to get up. It depends on the individual. We are here for him and vice-versa. When we are down, he is here for us. You just have to keep practicing and taking it one day at a time.”
RODDY WHITE, wide receiver
On recovering from a loss
“We are just going to continue to grind. We will talk about it amongst each other in the locker room. Tomorrow, when we get done meeting, we will get it done.”
On finishing games
“We just have to finish. It is a lot easier said than done. In the last couple of weeks, I do not think that we finished a game well. That is what we have to do. We have to go out there, make plays, and win games.”
