The Browns say quarterback Johnny Manziel's troubles off the field have undermined his teammates and the organization.

The team released a statement Tuesday by new vice president of football operations Sashi Brown, who said Manziel's "continual involvement in incidents" run counter to expectations for players. Brown said Manziel's status will "be addressed when permitted by league rules."

NFL.com reports the team will cut Manziel when the new league year begins March 9.

Manziel is being investigated by the NFL for the second time in three months. Last weekend in Texas, police were called to an apartment complex where a woman, identified as Manziel's ex-girlfriend, said she was involved in a disturbance with the 23-year-old player. The league cleared Manziel of wrongdoing following a fight with his girlfriend in October.

Manziel's behavior has been an issue almost since the day Cleveland drafted him in the first round in 2014.
