TWO-MINUTE DRILL
Subject: Falcons wide receiver Roddy White.
Topic: Effectiveness of the Falcons' passing game.
Background: A six-year veteran, White was drafted as the Falcons' first-rounder in 2005. He has had an extraordinary four seasons since coming into his own in 2007. Since his breakthrough year, he's averaged 92.8 catches, 1,281.5 yards receiving and 8.5 touchdowns a season. He signed a six-year, $50-million contract after a brief holdout last season. White led the league with 115 catches this season, which also was a Falcons record. He was selected to the Pro Bowl for the third year in a row.
Q: What's are the keys to the passing game being effective against Green Bay cornerback Charles Woodson and the Packers?
A: Michael Turner. I think you should call him. If we get the running game going, that will make it a whole lot easier.
Q: What did you see from Green Bay against Michael Vick and the Eagles on Sunday?
A: They went after Michael a little bit. They did a good job of just covering guys and on third-and-long, they were dropping eight [into coverage] and getting into the passing lanes. They mixed it up a whole lot and gave Michael a whole lot of different looks. They just made it tough for him.
Q: How did they try to guard you in the first matchup?
A: They kind of mixed it up. To start the game, Woodson kind of followed me around for the first part of the game and then he went inside a little bit. They put No. 38 (cornerback Tramon Williams) on me for a little while. (Safety) Nick (Collins) was always cheating to my side and things like that. They did a pretty good job of doing what they do well. They have some good athletes back there. Those guys move around and make a lot of plays.
Q: How did you keep Green Bay linebacker Clay Matthews from getting a sack in the regular-season matchup?
A: You always scheme up a plan for certain pass rushers. We had a package in for him. We were getting the backs to help on him or getting extra people out there to chip on him. You don't want a guy like that disrupting the game. We have to get some people on him and kind of run the ball at him to see if he'll hold up.
