Falcons tight end Jacob Tamme is getting a second opinion on his shoulder injury on Wednesday.

He’s been trying to rehab the separated shoulder, but it hasn’t been responding. Depending on the second opinion, he could have surgery as early as Thursday.

If he has surgery, he’d be lost for the season.

Tamme, who suffered a shoulder injury against Green Bay, has missed the past two games.

Tamme had 22 catches for 210 yards and three touchdowns.

Rookie Austin Hooper, a third-round pick from Stanford, has been getting first-team repetitions, but Levine Toilolo started against Tampa Bay and Philadelphia.

Joshua Perkins, who made the team as an undrafted free agent from Washington, has been active the past two games.
