Soliai placed on injured reserve, Tialavea promoted

Falcons nose tackle Paul Soliai, who was battling through a calf injury, was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday.

Tight end D.J. Tialavea was promoted to the 53-man roster.

Soliai, 6-foot4, 345 pounds, tried to play against the Panthers. He left the game and return to action and aggravated the injury.

Soliai has played in 14 games this year for the Falcons. He had 22 tacles and a fumble recovery. He s slated to have the third highest cap number on the team in 2016 at $6.9 million behind Matt Ryan $23.7 million and Julio Jones $15.9.

Tialavea was originally signed by Jacksonville as a undrafted rookie free agent from Utah State in 2014. He has also spent some time with the Bills. He was with the Falcons during training camp and the exhibition season. He has been on the practice squad since Week 12.
