New Falcons receiver Mohamed Sanu hit camp with a couple of new initials on his name. His jersey (No. 12) reads SANU SR, so that fans won’t get him confused with son Mohamed Sanu Jr, who is 11 months old.

“I got a little one,” Sanu said. “He’s my junior, so I definitely got to show him some respect as well.”

Sanu, who signed a five-year, $32.5 million contract with the Falcons after four seasons with Cincinnati, brings an interesting skill set. With the Bengals, he was used not only as a receiver but as a ball carrier and a Wildcat quarterback. But he also was only fifth on the team in receiving and did not catch a touchdown pass last season.

After the Falcons’ first workout of training camp Thursday, however, he explained what it is like to be Jr.’s father.

“It means a whole lot,” Sanu said. “He’s my dog. He’s funny. He’s full of energy. He’s always going. Always. He’s more athletic than me, I think.”
