Roddy White plans to appeal $8,268 fine

Nov 19, 2014

Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was fined $8,268 by the NFL office for unnecessary roughness on play in the third quarter of the Carolina game.

White said he plans to appeal the fine.

The letter to White stated that “after the play was over, you struck your opponent in the head area.”

The letter was from Merton Hanks, the NFL’s vice president of operations.

The game against the Panthers was an chippy affair with the Panthers getting in extra shots after the Falcons receivers made their catches. The extra action led to a brawl in the third quarter in which only Falcons receiver Devin Hester was called for a penalty. He came to defense of wide receiver Harry Douglas.

“We knew (that) was going to be a physical football game,” Falcons coach Mike Smith said.
