Former Falcons receiver Roddy White says the team lost games “because I wasn’t in put in that position to make that play.”
White, currently a free agent after being released by the team, spoke to Atlanta radio station WZGC-FM (92.9 The Game).
He finished his 11th season with 43 catches for 506 yards.
He said parting ways with the Falcons was a good thing because he was not willing to accept the same limited role again.
“I would have went crazy if I would have had to go through that another year,” White said. “I can’t play football like that, I was miserable.”
The Falcons started the season 5–0 but lost 8 of their remaining 11 games and finished 8-8 and failed to reach the playoffs.
"A lot of times we had opportunities to win games, and I wasn't put in that position to make that play, and I felt like we lost those games because I wasn't in put in that position to make that play," White told WZGH. "And I felt like if I was, then we would have been in the playoffs."
The 34-year-old said he plans to play this season and is talking to teams as training camp approaches.
