Former Falcons wide receiver Roddy White will be inducted into the Hall of Fame of his alma mater, the University of Alabama-Birmingham, during a ceremony Friday in Birmingham.
White, who played at UAB from 2001-04, is one of five inductees who also will be honored during Saturday’s UAB-Middle Tennessee game.
White still holds several school marks, including second in career touchdowns (26), leader in total receiving yardage in a single game (253 at Tulane, 2004), and career yards per reception (19.09).
White, who is on the football coaching staff at Johns Creek High School, was selected by the Falcons in the first round (27th overall) of the 2005 NFL draft. After a slow start, White developed into the franchise’s most prolific receiver during the league’s evolution into a more pass-oriented league.
White, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, amassed 808 catches, 10,863 yards and 63 touchdowns over 11 seasons in Atlanta.
White was released by the team after the 2016 season and retired in April as the Falcons' all-time leading receiver after not being signed by another team last season. The team recognized White's contributions -- alongside former quarterback Michael Vick -- during a ceremony in June.
