Falcons kicker Matt Bryant usually kicks about 12 balls from various distances and hash marks on Friday.

He’s been out of practice all week with a back injury all week and is scheduled to kick today.

Mike Meyer, who was with the team in training camp, was signed to the practice squad. If Bryant can’t play against the Dolphins at 1 p.m. Sunday, the Falcons can bring up Meyer.

Bryant, 42, has made all nine of his field goal attempts and all 11 of his extra points this season for 38 points.

Meyer made 3 of 4 of his field goal attempts during the exhibition season.

Special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong will watch the workout intensely.

“I would imagine that it would be not how many, but how he’s feeling as he’s doing it,” Armstrong said. “I can’t put a number on it. It will be just how he feels.”

Meyer made fields goals of 53 and 30 yards against Miami in the exhibition season opener on August 10. He made a 28-yard field goal against Arizona  on Aug. 26 and missed a 57-yard field goal against Jacksonville on Aug. 31. Some thought he’d get picked up by Tampa Bay, who’s been having kicking issues all season.

The Falcons were elated that the former Iowa kickdr was still available.

“Number one, he’s part of this family and he understands how we operate and he had a pretty good (exhibition season),” Armstrong said. “He’s a guy that knows how we work and how we operate and he fits in pretty good with us.”
