Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones and running back Devonta Freeman will not play in the exhibition opener against the Jets at 7:30 p.m. Friday at MetLife Stadium, according to the team.

Both players are healthy, but are “coaching decisions” for this game.

“You know I’m going to be ready to go when the season starts,” Jones told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution while signing jerseys in the end zone pre-game.

Justin Hardy will start for Jones and Tevin Coleman will start for Freeman, who suffered a concussion in the exhibition season opener last season against Miami.

Kicker Matt Bryant, who appears to have some muscle-related injury, and offensive tackle Ty Sambrailo (hand) were previously announced as scratches by head coach Dan Quinn.
