The Falcons report to training camp Wednesday and conduct their first practice Thursday. Looking back, few people would have thought in the aftermath of the Falcons’ loss to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game in January 2013 that the team would fail to rise above .500 in the next three seasons.

That’s where the team sits 51 days until their season opener against Tampa Bay at 1 p.m. Sept. 11, having gone 18-30 the past three seasons. Coach Dan Quinn and his team will try to build on the steady improvement that saw the Falcons’ victory totals rise from four to six to eight during that time.
