Falcons rest key starters in final exhibition game

Aug 28, 2014

The Falcons, as expected, elected to rest most of their key offensive starters in the final exhibition game against the Jaguars on Thursday night at EverBank Field.

Quarterback Matt Ryan, wide receivers Julio Jones, Roddy White and Harry Douglas, running back Steven Jackson and right guard Jon Asamoah (undisclosed injury) did not start and were not expected to play.

T.J. Yates received the start at quarterback and Sean Renfree came in for the second series. Peter Konz started for Asamoah at right guard.

Defensively, the Falcons used their starters and promptly sacked rookie Blake Bortles on the Jaguars first play of the game.
