FLOWERY BRANCH—Falcons guard Gabe Carimi (ankle) and tight end Mickey Shuler (concussion) are not participating in practice today.
Wide receiver Courtney Roby was excused because his wife is having a baby.
Running back Steven Jackson (hamstring) did some work off to the side but there’s still no timetable on his return. Coach Mike Smith has said Jackson would be ready for the season opener on Sept. 7.
Tackle Terren Jones left practice and was attended to by a trainer after he appeared to be overcome by the heat. Jones later returned to practice.
