Texans coach Bill O’Brien has said running back Arian Foster will be a game-time decision when his team faces the Falcons on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
Falcons coach Dan Quinn said his team expects to see Foster in uniform.
“We are going to prepare like he is playing,” Quinn said. “It’s always easier to go that way. We’ve got great respect for him. We know the cutback ability is there. He can turn any play into a big play.”
Foster had groin surgery in August and has been practicing on a limited basis for the past two weeks. O’Brien said Foster would have to go through a full practice before he can play.
Foster was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2010 but has struggled with injuries for much of his career. He rushed for 1,246 yards in 13 games in 2014.
With Foster on the shelf, the Texans have used a committee of running backs headed by second-year running back Alfred Blue. He rushed for 139 yards on 31 rushes with a touchdown on Sunday against the Buccaneers.
