Falcons activate WR Drew Davis

Nov 21, 2014

FLOWERY BRANCH—The Falcons today activated wide receiver Drew Davis from the physically unable to perform list.

Davis missed all of training camp and the first 10 games while recovering from July foot surgery. He practiced the past two weeks and the Falcons had until Monday to decide whether to add him to the 53-man roster.

Davis will help fill the hole left on special teams by the season-ending injury suffered by Antone Smith on Sunday. Davis, like Smith, is a core special-teams player who serves as a “gunner” covering punts. Davis also has 16 catches for 256 yards and three touchdowns in 32 career games.

To make room on the roster for Davis, the Falcons waived wide receiver Freddie Martino.
