Campbell to start running on ankle

Sept 27, 2016

Falcons linebacker De’Vondre Campbell is set to running on his left ankle injury.

He is getting closer to returning to practice, but may not be ready to play against the Carolina Panthers at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Georgia Dome.

“He’s getting better,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said on Tuesday. “You’ll see him out there where he’ll get to run this week and we’ll just take it all the way through. I know he’s getting closer.”

The Falcons were hopeful that the athletic Campbell would help the defense’s coverage against tight ends this season.

He’s missed the past two games after suffering the injury on Sept. 15 in a closed practice.

The Falcons have given up touchdown passes to tight ends in all three of their games this season.
