Byard to workout for Falcons

April 4, 2016

FLOWERY BRANCH – Former Middle Tennessee safety Kevin Byard, who was a surprise non-invitee to the scouting combine, will attend the Atlanta Falcons locals day workout on Wednesday.

Byard improved his 40-yard dash time on Thursday at the school’s Pro Day. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds and had a 38-inch vertical jump, 10-foot broad jump and bench pressed 225 pounds 22 times.

After his workout he met with Detroit, Oakland, Tennessee and Cleveland. Byard had a strong showing at Senior Bowl.

Georgia defensive tackle Sterling Bailey (East Hall), Georgia State cornerback Bruce Dukes (Sandy Creek), Alabama linebacker Dillon Lee (Buford), Florida State linebacker Terrance Smith (Southwest DeKalb) and Charleston Southern cornerback Malcolm Jackson (North Gwinnett) have been invited.

There will be mostly lower-profile prospects hoping to catch on likely as undrafted free agents. Eligible players include those who went to local colleges, local high schools or both.
