New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, a two-time Super Bowl MVP, takes us behind enemy lines.
Manning is coming off perhaps his toughest week as a professional. He made several late-game blunders that led to the Giants losing 27-26 to the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener last Sunday.
He took ownership of his miscues before trying to focus on the Falcons’ game.
“We are handling everything and going about our business,” Manning said. “We are just trying to get ready for a good Atlanta team that’s coming off a good win.”
He said it was a brutally tough week in the New York media.
“This is one of those weeks when you wish you were a baseball player and you had a game the next day,” Manning said. “You could just get right back on the field instead of having a week to digest everything.
“But that’s part of the game. If you play long enough, there’s going to be good and bad. You get through it and it will make you stronger. Hopefully, we can go out there and play well this week.”
Manning noticed that the Falcons had a revived pass-rush against the Eagles, despite not registering a sack.
“They did a great job of getting pressure,” he said. “A lot of times they were bringing four guys and sometimes bringing five. But they were getting to the quarterback and getting hits.”
