Players for the Falcons teamed up with the NCR Corporation to lead a STEM-themed (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) field day for kids at the M.R. Hollis Innovation Academy in Atlanta on Thursday and Friday. Representatives from Georgia Tech, along with the Falcons cheerleaders and mascot joined them.

NCR tweeted several photos from the event, which is part of a partnership that was announced earlier this week, meant to encourage children to get involved in science and math at an early age.

M.R. Hollis Innovation Academy is a K-8 Atlanta Public School that features an innovative STEM-focused curriculum in partnership with the Georgia Tech Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics and Computing. It opened in October and is named in honor of the late Michael R. Hollis, entrepreneur and founder of Atlanta Air.

Six soldiers were honored, each receiving Meritorious Service Medals, Thursday for heroic actions responding to the shooting at Fort Stewart. “One of the things I can say unequivocally is that the fast action of these soldiers — under stress and under trauma and under fire — absolutely saved lives from being lost,” U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll told reporters as the six soldiers stood near him Thursday. “They are everything that is good about this nation.” (Hyosub Shin/AJC)
