Kevin Durant had successful surgery Thursday on his fractured right foot. The Thunder announced the news by email four days after the team announced Durant had a Jones fracture in his right foot and would miss significant playing time this season.
Durant will be re-evaluated in six weeks. The Thunder will give another update on the NBA MVP's status at that point.

Oklahoma City starts its regular season October 29th at Portland. If Durant were able to play in six weeks, he would have already missed 16 games or nearly 20 percent of the 82-game regular season.
Durant averaged 29.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists last season on his way to winning his first NBA MVP award.
