Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has been hearing about the St. Louis Rams since he spent part of training camp with running back Steven Jackson (a former Ram) as his roommate.

Here’s a brief Q&A involving Ryan and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Q: What did you learn from rooming with Jackson?

A: He's super into architecture. He talked to me a lot about that. The thing is that he's a well-versed guy, and he's into a lot of different things. He's extremely interesting. He's a really good person. Not that I didn't expect him to be that, but I just didn't know. I enjoyed spending time with him.

Q: What’s the biggest jump the team wants to make from Week 1 to Week 2?

A: Winning (laughs). That's first and foremost.

Q: What do you think of St. Louis cornerback Cortland Finnegan?

A: He's a good player. He's a tough and physical player. We played against him when he was in Tennessee. We know the challenges that he presents. He's very good at blitzing in their sub-package when he moves inside to the nickel. He's got a good feel for getting off blocks when he does that as well.

Q: Will running the no-huddle (offense) more help the blocking?

A: There are a lot of positives and some negatives to it as well. One of the things it does it simplifies what a defense can do. It limits the personnel groupings that they can get on and off the field. For us, it limits some of the things we can do and limits some of the personnel changes that we like to make. … But it's something that we've been productive with in the past.
