QB Corner: Q&A with Matt Ryan

Dec 14, 2013

Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, who hasn’t recorded a passer rating of 100 points or better over his past seven games, hopes to rebound against the 27th-ranked pass defense in the league.

Washington is giving up 256.7 yards passing per game.

Atlanta defeated Washington 31-24 on Oct. 7, 2012, at FedEx Field.

Here’s a brief Q&A with Ryan and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Q: How are you holding up after taking so many hits this season?

A: I feel good. In all honesty, I feel really good for this time of the year. I think everybody has things that creep up this late in the season. I feel good. I've been able to practice every practice this year. That's been a good thing.

Q: What advice would you give to Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, who was benched this week?

A: This league is tough. You're going to have your ups and downs. There is no question about that. Keep battling and keep working hard, like he is. You've got to remain confident. Each situation is unique though, and each organization and team is different. But just keep your head down and keep working hard.

Q: How do you assess the Washington defense?

A: I think they have some good defenders. Their front seven is stout. They have two really good outside linebackers in (Ryan) Kerrigan and (Brian) Orakpo, who are guys that not only rush the passer well, but they play the run well. They can also drop into coverage.
